baraa

baraa, the founder

baraa was founded in 2009 by baraa ben boubaker, a designer born in kelibia and based on the french riviera. her work reflects the quiet rhythm of mediterranean life—light, free, and understated. for over two decades, she has worked alongside local artisans to preserve and evolve traditional weaving techniques, particularly tunisian hayek. through the use of wool and linen, natural dyes, and time-honored methods, she creates soft, textured fabrics that move with the body and age with grace.

baraa quickly gained recognition in international salons, including maison & objet in paris, positioning itself within a refined, high-end market. in 2010, she became the first tunisian laureate of the maison méditerranéenne de la mode competition in marseille, acknowledged for her early commitment to sustainable and ethical practices. in 2011, her work was noticed by leila menchari, advisor to hermès, leading to a showcase at 24 faubourg saint-honoré. the same year, japanese buyers introduced baraa™ to galerie vie – tomorrowland, initiating a long-standing collaboration from 2014 onward. today, the brand is distributed in selected stores across new york, geneva, paris, nice, monaco, and more—quietly shaping a world of enduring forms and considered beauty.
